Being responsible plays a big part in the growth of our Industry. A good nonprofit organization that plays an important role in promoting this is Tread Lightly. Here’s some important tips to keep in mind when you’re out on the trail:
Travel & Recreate with Minimum Impact.
Always stay on the trail – even if it’s rough and muddy and try to travel in single file to avoid widening the trail.
Respect the environment and right of others.
Always yield to horses, hikers and bikers on the trail and respect wildlife by keeping your distance. Also, make sure you comply with signage and get permission to cross over any private land.
Educate yourself – plan and prepare before you Go.
Know local laws and regulations as well as which areas and routes are open to ATVs. It’s also a good idea to let someone know where you’re going and when you expect to return.
Allow for Future Use - leave it better than you found it.
Remember to take out what you bring in – Don’t litter or leave food or trash behind and
Discover the rewards of responsible recreation.
Using a little common sense and courtesy, what we have available today will be here to enjoy tomorrow. For even more information on Tread Lightly, check out www.treadlightly.org.
