Go Big in the Mud!

Print E-mail

The guys at Gorilla Axle are serious about the mud. They’ve teamed up with CAN-AM by helping design a mud ready ATV – the Can-Am Outlander 800R MR. Mud racing and riding is growing by leaps and bounds, especially down south. If you ride in deep mud or just do a lot of mud riding, here are a few things that you might want to consider!

Brian-with-Grizzly1Companies like Gorilla Axle offer over-sized tires and lift kits to get you that extra ground clearance and the height you need for going deep! Now when you add big tires or a lift, you should also upgrade your axles with something a little stronger. Gorilla Axle is known for their heavy duty axles with super strong CV joints to help turn those big tires in the mud. These CV Joints are made of 4340 Chromoly Steel which is one of the strongest steels available and heat treated and cryogenically treated for extra strength and durability.

The Gorilla Axles are much stronger than the original stock ones and are able to take up to a 40 degree angle which makes them perfect for riders looking to install extended suspension lifts or over sized tires.  Usually, after a lift is installed, stock axles are at their weakest point and can’t withstand the constant strain of the added stress of the angles causing them to get weak and break.

Grizzly-Mud-PicCovering the CV Joints are heavy duty Neoprene Boots filled with Lucas Oil Xtra Heavy Duty Grease (Lucas Products is the brand of choice at Fisher’s ATV World) to make sure the axles run as smoothly even in the harshest riding conditions.

The Gorilla Silverback Tires come in sizes ranging from 27” to 32” with tread depths ranging from 1 ½” to 2 ½”. They have a 6 ply rating with lugs that wrap all the way to the bead on both sides that allows you to get great all over traction in deep ruts. Brian has his Grizzly 700 set up with a Gorilla Stage One Lift, Gorilla Axles and 30” Silverback tires and it’s a monster in the mud holes!
